PUGLIA'S FOOD TRADITION
Day One
Transfer from the Bari or Brindisi airport to Il Frantoio, located near Ostuni. Tonight you will feast on a welcome dinner featuring Apulian dishes based on the estate's own produce.
Day Two
Wake up to a luscious breakfast featuring homemade jams, cakes and bread. This morning you will have your first cooking lesson in a simple, but authentic masseria, located near Il Frantoio. Some of the dishes you will prepare include orrechiette con cime di rapa (past with turnip tops), minestra di fave secche (baked fava beans), cozze gratinate (black mussels au gratin), and s. s.
In the afternoon you will visit nearby art cities such as Polignano a Mare and Conversano. Dinner will be in a typical restaurant inside the castle of Conversano.
Day Three
This morning you will have your second hands-on cooking lesson, followed by lunch.
Afternoon visit to the fortified city of Ostuni, known as "The White Town, " and considered to be one of the most beautiful towns in Southern Italy. Explore its narrow streets lined with white-washed houses and venture to the old center where you will have incredible views overlooking the coast and surrounding plain.
Enjoy dinner tonight in Ostuni.
Day Four
Morning cooking lesson followed by lunch.
Afternoon visit to an ancient farm which produces extra virgin olive oil. Here you will have a lesson in olive oil production, learning about the various types of trees and the process involved in pressing and bottling the oil.
Dinner tonight at Il Frantoio.
Day Five
After breakfast today you will discover the road of wine through Martina Franca and Alberobello (known for its trulli). Visit local wine cellars and taste some of the delicious wines that Apulia has to offer.
Lunch will be in a typical restaurant set in a trulli.
Farewell dinner tonight at a five star masseria.
Day Six
After breakfast, morning transfer to the airport.
